ACA Marketplace coverage
What is an ACA Marketplace plan?
An ACA Marketplace plan is individual or family health insurance purchased through the federal or a state Marketplace. These plans cover essential health benefits, protect people with pre-existing conditions, and may qualify for premium tax credits based on household information and eligibility.
Could I qualify for a $0 monthly premium plan?
Some applicants may qualify for a plan with a $0 monthly premium after an advance premium tax credit is applied. Eligibility depends on factors such as household income, household size, age, location, and access to other qualifying coverage. A $0 premium does not mean all medical care is free; deductibles, copays, and network rules may still apply.
When can I enroll in or change an ACA plan?
Most people enroll during the annual Open Enrollment Period. Outside that window, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after certain life events, such as losing qualifying coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby. Eligibility and deadlines vary, so it is best to check promptly after a change.
What information should I have ready?
It helps to have birth dates, ZIP code, expected annual household income, Social Security numbers for applicants, immigration documents when applicable, and details about any current or employer coverage. You may also want a list of preferred doctors and prescriptions when comparing plans.
When does new coverage start?
The effective date depends on the enrollment period, the qualifying event, and when the application is completed. Coverage is not active until the insurer confirms enrollment and any required first premium is paid.
Other coverage and personal help
Who is Medicare generally for?
Medicare is generally available to people age 65 or older and to certain younger people who qualify because of a disability or specific medical condition. Eligibility, enrollment periods, and plan choices vary by person.
Do you also help with dental, vision, life, or short-term coverage?
Yes. Guardiance can help you review dental, vision, life, short-term medical, supplemental, and small-employer coverage options where available. Visit What We Offer to choose the types of coverage you need and submit one request.
Does it cost extra to work with an insurance agent?
No. Guardiance never charges clients for help comparing plans, completing an application, enrolling in coverage, or receiving policy support. Your premium and other plan costs are set by the insurance company or program—not by Guardiance—and you pay the same plan price whether you enroll with our help or on your own.
Can you help me compare doctors, prescriptions, and plan costs?
Yes. An agent can help you compare premiums, deductibles, copays, provider networks, prescription coverage, and other plan details. Always confirm important doctors, facilities, and medications directly in the plan's current directory or formulary before enrolling.
How will Guardiance contact me after I submit a request?
A Guardiance agent may call, text, or email you using the information you provide. Keep your phone nearby and watch for a follow-up. You can also call the agency directly if your request is time-sensitive.
